Our Miss Brooks (1956)

A new school teacher (Eve Arden) arrives in a small midwestern town to teach English at a high school. She's immediately attracted to the school's biology professor (Robert Rockwell) and while he's attracted to her, he's in no hurry to propose marriage. Directed by writer turned director Al Lewis (MA AND PA KETTLE). Occasionally, a popular TV series crosses over to the big screen with the original cast. DRAGNET, a popular TV show, crossed over to the big screen in 1954 and was a hit and in the 1960s, THE MUNSTERS did the same thing. Originally a radio show debuting in 1948, it crossed over to TV screens in 1952 with Eve Arden and eventually this movie in 1956. While the film has higher production values and more adult situations than the TV series would allow, it plays out like what it is, an extended episode of a TV sitcom. If you liked the sitcom, you should find the film enjoyable. If you didn't or don't know the show, there's nothing for you here. With Richard Crenna, Nick Adams, Don Porter, Gale Gordon and June Blair.
