Invisible Strangler (aka the Astral Factor) (1976)

Cheesy low budget horror yarn has a psychotic killer (Frank Ashmore) who killed his actress mother (Jo Anne Meredith) and now in prison, through paranormal means makes himself invisible and escapes to exact revenge on the women who testified against him in court and put him behind bars. It’s dreadfully acted by a normally decent cast. Robert Foxworth, overacting like crazy, is the police lieutenant in charge of the case, the normally likable Stefanie Powers is plain annoying as his shrill ditzy girlfriend and the strangler’s victims include Elke Sommer, Sue Lyon, Leslie Parrish (MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE) and Marianna Hill (THE GODFATHER PART II). Zero suspense with a made on a shoestring look to it and the special effects show it.
