Christmas In Connecticut (1992)
The successful and unmarried author (Dyan Cannon) of several cookbooks and the star of her own TV cooking show has a secret. She can't cook! When her producer (Tony Curtis) sets up a prime time TV special with her husband and children (they're all fakes, she doesn't have a family) hosting Christmas for a national hero (Kris Kristofferson), it's a recipe for a disaster waiting to happen. Based on the 1945 film and directed by Arnold Schwarzenegger. If it ain't broke, don't fix it but apparently the film makers thought they could improve on the 1945 film. The original had a clear and simple line but this version decides it's not enough and they add unappealing characters that weren't in the original film like a chubby brat (Jimmy Workman), an assistant (Kelly Cinnante) with a moody actor husband (Gene Lythgow) and the newspaper editor of the original is turned into Curtis's lecherous producer. It's like looking at a simple but pretty dress covered with unnecessary ribbons, feathers, bows and fur! Normally, Dyan Cannon is an expert comedienne but here, she flounders in desperation. With Richard Roundtree and Vivian Bonnell.
