La Bambola Di Satana (1969)
A young woman (Erna Schurer) inherits an old Gothic castle from an Uncle. When she arrives at the castle for the reading of the will, the castle's caretaker (Lucia Bomez) tells her that her Uncle wanted the castle sold. When she is hesitant to sell, mysterious things begin to happen. Directed by Ferruccio Casapinta (whose only credit this is), this giallo is amateurish to the point that it seems like a home movie at times. In fact, I wouldn't even call it a giallo. That term is often used as a generic description of any Italian movie involving grisly killings. A mystery thriller pretty much describes it even though there aren't any thrills. The film was never released in the U.S and it's easy to see why. The film attempts to be titillating with brief glimpses of nudity and some faux whipping and torture scenes. A good underscore might have helped (where's Ennio Morricone when you need him?) but Franco Potenza's vapid score is a bust. Some may find some camp value in it but I wouldn't count on it. With Roland Carey, Aurora Bautista and Manlio Salvatori.
