Just For You (1952)

A Broadway producer (Bing Crosby) is in love with the star (Jane Wyman) of his show but must contend with his children's problems first. A son (Robert Arthur) also in love with Wyman and hostile at being in his father's shadow and a daughter (Natalie Wood) desperate to get into the "right" school. Based on the novel FAMOUS by Stephen Vincent Benet and direccted by Elliott Nugent (UP IN ARMS). This nondescript musical is colorful and boasts tuneful songs by Harry Warren and Leo Robin with some spirited choreography by Helen Tamiris. Crosby is tolerable (and tolerate him is about all I can do) but Jane Wyman handles the singing chores (who knew?) quite well and looks sensational in her Edith Head costumes. Not much to write home about but diverting. With Ethel Barrymore, Julie Newmar, Regis Toomey and Cora Witherspoon.
