The Unearthly (1957)
An unbalanced doctor (John Carradine) has a secluded mansion where he treats patients with mental or emotional problems. But what he's really doing is much more horrifying. He's performing experiments on his patients in an attempt to discover the secret of eternal life. Directed by Boris Petroff (using the pseudonym of Brooke L. Peters), this poverty row horror movie doesn't offer much though it does have a disturbing next to last final shot. It's basically a riff on H.G. Wells' ISLAND OF DOCTOR MOREAU but without the philosophical content. But in addition to Carradine, it does have two other horror icons in the cast: Allison Hayes (ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN) and Tor Johnson. For fans of 1950s horror/sci-fi only. With character actor Myron Healey in a rare leading man role, Marilyn Buferd, Arthur Batanides and Sally Todd.
