Invasion (1966)

Driving through fog, a motorist (Anthony Sharp) hits an Asian man (Eric Young) and takes him to a country hospital. But x-rays and blood tests show that the young man is not of this Earth. Directed by Alan Bridges (THE HIRELING), this low budget B&W slice of modest science fiction is intriguing but the film never fully realizes its potential. There aren't any elaborate special effects and most of the film takes place in the hospital setting. Perhaps the most interesting thing about it is that the aliens are played by Asian actors and why not? Why should visitors from other worlds all be Caucasian? While the film digresses needlessly at times, as long as it stays focused on the alien visitor who claims he's an innocent prisoner escaping from a female dominated planet and the reactions of the hospital staff dealing with the situation, it's enough to hold our attention. As the doctor in charge of the case, Edward Judd has starred in other sci-fi classics like DAY THE EARTH CAUGHT FIRE and FIRST MEN IN THE MOON but he's a dull leading man (he didn't help those other films either). With Yoko Tani, Valerie Gearon, Tsai Chin and Lyndon Brook.
