Love Among Thieves (1987)

A world renowned pianist (Audrey Hepburn) is blackmailed into stealing three priceless Faberge eggs from a museum as a ransom for her fiance (Patrick Bauchau). She flees to Mexico to pay the ransom but two different men (Robert Wagner, Jerry Orbach) are on her trail. A quickie knock off of ROMANCING THE STONE (with a little CHARADE salted in), so blatant that I'm surprised there wasn't a plagiarism lawsuit. Hepburn has the Kathleen Turner role, Wagner is in the Michael Douglas part and Jerry Orbach subs for Danny DeVito. Even given its derivative history, it might have worked if there was an energy  to the proceedings but it just plods along rather tediously. Still, there is the glorious Audrey who elevates the whole proceedings with elegance and class. There's even a charming homage  to FUNNY FACE with Hepburn descending the San Francisco Opera house stairs in a Givency red evening gown. With an effective performance by Samantha Eggar as Hepburn's sister in law.
