Beverly Hills Chihuahua (2008)
When she goes on a business trip to Europe, a Beverly Hills beauty tycoon (Jamie Lee Curtis) leaves her pampered and spoiled Chihuahua named Chloe (Drew Barrymore) in the care of her irresponsible niece (Piper Perabo). But when the niece goes to Mexico with her girlfriends for the weekend, Chloe gets lost and a frantic search begins to find her before the Aunt gets home. Directed by Raja Gosnell (NEVER BEEN KISSED), the film was humorously advertised as the "greatest Chihuahua movie of all time!" (as if it had any competition) but this talking animals movie is disconcertingly charming. As far as talking animal movies go, you could do a lot worse. The film's heart is in the right place and animal lovers will most likely put their critical faculties aside and not even try to resist. Other humans in the cast include Eugenio Derbez and Manolo Cardona, who provides some romantic interest for Perabo while the dog voices include George Lopez, Andy Garcia, Edward James Olmos and Loretta Devine. Cheech Marin represents the rodent contingent.
