London Has Fallen (2016)
A terrorist mastermind (Alon Aboutboul) is targeted by the U.S. government and his compound destroyed killing his family and guests. But he survives and plots his revenge which will come two years later in London. A sequel to the 2013 hit OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN but this time directed by Babak Najafi taking over the directorial reins from Antoine Fuqua. It's a big dumb (and I do mean dumb) mindless action movie. But to be fair, in the action department, it delivers spectacularly what it promises. The downside is that the characters actually have to speak from time to time and the dialogue is hideous! No cliche is left unturned! It's as if the film makers thought if they gave us enough explosions and killings, we wouldn't notice (or perhaps be in a forgiving mood) how bad the script is but when the dialogue is this bad, you cringe for the poor actors. I hope good actors like Morgan Freeman and Angela Bassett got fat paychecks for giving what might possibly be the worst performances of their careers. Oscar winner Melissa Leo fare a bit better since her part has been cut down to about 2 lines. With Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Robert Forster, Radha Mitchell, Colin Salmon and Charlotte Riley.
