Inception (2010)

A professional thief (Leonardo DiCaprio) leads a team that infiltrates dreams in order to extract secrets and information. Written and directed by Christopher Nolan (BATMAN BEGINS). Glorious poppycock! A thrilling rollercoaster ride, the film is a loopy clever conceit that defies all logic but Nolan is smart enough to keep the action going at a breathtaking (literally) pace that you don’t have the time to dissect it nor do you want to. It lacks the pretentiousness (well, almost) of MEMENTO and the pomposity of BATMAN BEGINS and is crammed with a kinetic pop a minute rat-tat-tat technique that keeps you riveted as each twist and turn shakes you up. In all the razzle dazzle, there’s even time for DiCaprio to give yet another solid performance. The film is video game as cinema and puzzle fans should love it. Even the dreaded Hans Zimmer rises to the occasion. The huge cast includes Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Ellen Page (now Elliot Page), Michael Caine, Ken Watanabe, Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Tom Berenger and Pete Postlethwaite.
