Clash Of The Titans (2010)

A crashing bore! Totally lacking the fun and charm of the 1981 original, this update is a rather ugly looking film of browns and grays and Ramin Djawadi’s headache inducing score thundering away while the dour faced Sam Worthington scowls in between the CGI actions pieces. Shot flat but being shown in 3D, it’s a total waste of the 3D format as the process adds nothing to the film, visually or otherwise. And costume designer Lindy Hemming must have seen EXCALIBUR one too many times. What’s up with dressing the Greek Gods in medieval armor? Mount Olympus looks like King Arthur’s court what with Liam Neeson as Zeus done up in shiny armor a la King Arthur and the rest of the Greek gods dressed similarly. Only Gemma Arterton manages to stand above the crowd and Ralph Fiennes has morphed into his brother Joseph! I did enjoy the in joke about Boo Boo the owl though, otherwise … a stinker.
