A successful unmarried couple (Reese Witherspoon, Vince Vaughn), both from divorced dysfunctional families, spend Christmas day visiting his father, her mother, his mother and her father and other assorted wacky relatives. Directed by Seth Gordon, this is a pretty lame movie by any standards. The humor is of the most juvenile sort. It's the kind of movie where we're supposed to yuk it up when babies puke on people or senior citizens talk dirty. Mercifully, the film is short, clocking in at just around 90 minutes. But this film has 5 Oscar winners (Witherspoon, Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, Jon Voight and Mary Steenburgen) in the cast. My God, is this the best being offered to them? Inexplicably, the film was a big hit. Go figure!
