War Gods Of Babylon (aka Le Sette Folgori Di Assur) (1962)
The King of Nineveh (Howard Duff) and the younger King of Babylon (Luciano Marin) are brothers. But since they are both in love with the same woman (Jocelyn Lane), the younger brother vows to destroy Babylon. This Italian sword and sandal flick isn't tacky enough to be much fun though most of the dialogue is pretty cheesy. Since the entire movie is dubbed, Duff is given a slightly higher speaking voice but he looks tired as if it was an effort just to show up. Three years later, the nubile Lane would show up as Elvis's leading lady in TICKLE ME. Forget about historical accuracy, that goes right out the window. There is a modestly impressive flood that decimates Babylon toward the end (done in obvious miniatures) but other than that, it's pretty sluggish. Production values are minimal but there's a decent score by Angelo Francesco Lavagnino and Carlo Savina. Even peplum fans might find this tough going. With Giancarlo Sbragia and Jose Greci.
